Those were the first years of our marriage

I was shocked when I saw the person. An old friend of mine, whom I hadn’t seen for a long time, was standing in front of me. He had a flashlight in his hand and was looking at me with a worried expression on his face.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, still reeling from the shock I was experiencing.

“I knocked on the door but when no one answered I got worried,” he said. “When the lights went out, I thought there was something wrong inside.”

I relaxed for a moment, but I still didn’t fully understand what was going on. My friend’s presence reassured me a little, but I was still a little nervous. It was really unexpected and strange to see him at the bathroom door.

“I was just taking a shower,” I said, smiling nervously. “When the lights went out and I heard that clicking I panicked.”

“I understand, I didn’t want to scare you,” my friend replied. “Maybe it would be a good idea to check when the power comes back on. We can look together.”

I pulled myself together, got dressed quickly and went out together. We started walking around the house to see what was causing the power outage. The silence and darkness outside began to ease my fear. Eventually, we reached the electrical panel and noticed a small fuse problem. My friend quickly fixed the problem and restored the power.

When the lights came back on, we looked at each other and our nervousness slowly turned into smiles. This unexpected event had reconnected me with an old friend. The evening that had started with fear was spent reminiscing and chatting.

After this incident, I learned to stay a little calmer every time there was a power outage or an unexpected sound. Sometimes the scariest moments can end with the most beautiful surprises. When my wife returned home, I told her what we had experienced and shared the story of how I had started seeing this friend again after not seeing her for a long time, and we both smiled at this strange but pleasant memory.
