Asuman and Emre went into the living room and started chatting. The conversations that went back and forth between old memories and current events brought smiles to both of their faces. Their friendship that lasted for years was a great value for both parties, and such meetings offered small but important breaks in the fast pace of life.
“Emre, it’s always a great pleasure to see you. When my husband is at work, the house is a bit quiet, but it’s great to fill that gap with you,” Asuman said.
“I missed that too, Asuman. It’s nice to be able to spend time like we used to,” Emre replied. The two talked for hours, accompanied by wine and delicious snacks.
“Sometimes life really goes by fast, doesn’t it? It feels like yesterday, when we were at university… Now we’re in completely different places,” Asuman added.
“Yes, but the important thing is to appreciate these moments and keep our friendship alive.”
As the night progressed, the depth of their conversations increased, and they realized once again how strong their friendship was. Asuman felt that she was always grateful for Emre’s friendship and how precious the moments she shared with him were to her.
When the clock struck midnight, Emre announced that he had to get up. Asuman said, “My door is always open to you, Emre. Until we meet again,” and said goodbye to him.
Emre said, “I know that, Asuman. We will meet again,” and left the house.
Asuman fell asleep that night feeling that she was not alone and that the power of friendship was always with her. Tomorrow would be a new day, but today’s memories would always have a place in her heart.
